Rotary steerable system
The Rotary steerable system (RSS) - TNB provided by the Center for Oil and Gas Technologies of the Rostec Corp. - JSC “Neftegazavtomatika” consists of a high-tech module of rotary drilling and a hydraulic power section. RSS uses the time-tested bit deviation technology, does not require a large amount of auxiliary equipment, and allows you to control the well trajectory with constant rotation of the drill string while maintaining optimal power and bit rotation speed. Designed for use in a variety of conditions, the RSS-TNB combines the functionality of the RSSused by large service companies with the ease of control inherent in conventional downhole motors.
The rotary drilling module contains retractable shoes, positioning and control modules, as well as electric and hydraulic generators, driven by the rotor of the power unit. The control module controls the hydraulic manifold, providing the necessary direction and force to change the well trajectory.
Modes of operation:
RSS-TNB can be configured to work in a closed-loop feedback mode for drilling vertical and tangential sections of the well or work in accordance with commands given from the surface. The choice of operating mode, as well as turning off the switchgear for processing, is carried out using coded parcels obtained by changing the flow rate of the drilling mud (frequency of the strokes of the drilling pumps).

RSS-TNB from JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" easy to use. The desired direction of the slide is set by turning the drill string - as well as setting the position of the diverter in a conventional PDM. The required intensity of the set is given by coded premises (by changing the flow rate of the drilling mud). The microcontroller built into the RSS is capable of supporting more complex work algorithms. In the future, it is planned to introduce a communication system with the Telemetry system - TNB, which will significantly expand the capabilities of the system.
The TNB-telemetry system represented by JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" in the following configurations "trajectory control" and "trajectory control + gamma logging" in combination with a rotary pulsator of the second generation provides reliable technical support for directional drilling.
The power supply of the telesystem may be provided by lithium batteries, a turbine generator, or a combination of these. The exact values of azimuth, zenith angle, position of the diverter, transmitted at high speed, allow you to confidently pass complex trajectories of wells of any profile - from vertical to horizontal.
The borehole assembly is equipped with a sensor module with magnetometers, calibrated in accordance with NIST (National Institute for Standardization and Technology of the USA) standards, a reliable rotary pulsator - TNB and batteries and / or a turbine generator - TNB for power supply. The modular design provides the ability to connect additional sensors, such as a gamma-ray logging module and / or a vibration monitoring module. Each probe is protected by a unique modern vibration isolation system and is housed in a protective case made of beryllium bronze or non-magnetic alloy. A reliable ground decoder is connected to a computer (Telemetrists Workstation), which runs the “TLM Control Center” program.
The telemetry system can store up to 32 MB of log data and diagnostic data for unloading at the end of the voyage. The second generation rotary pulsator is one of the most reliable hydraulic channel transmitters in the industry. A reliable, high-performance brushless motor and control controller, an “open flow” design, a positive impulse and jamming control virtually exclude the possibility of a pulsator getting stuck or blocked.
Built-in memory allows you to analyze the work of the pulsator at the end of the flight. The rotary pulsator can be easily modified to work in extractable and non-removable configurations. The system is very easy to learn, build and use. Customers often train their staff themselves.
The Resistivimeter offered by JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" is a geometrically compensated (symmetrical design), dual-frequency (400 KHz and 2 MHz), two-zone logging device designed for logging while drilling (LWD) and logging after drilling (MAD) in all types wells. The device can be used for geosteering, well correlation, tracking the tendency of changes in reservoir pressure, and determining the depth of casing installation. Possible uses as an alternative to cable logging; device configuration allows logging during the launch of the layout, with activated or deactivated (in the case of dry drilling or the use of foamed solutions) flow sensor.
The symmetrical design, with receiving antennas located in the center of the device, makes it possible to compensate in real time, virtually eliminates the influence of the invasive effect and improves the measurement accuracy by suppressing oscillations in the receiving channels.
Resistivimeter-TNB can work in all types of drilling mud, including solutions on oil and saline solutions, providing resistivity values in real time, with the possibility of flexible adjustment of the transmitted values. High-resolution data is stored in the instrument’s memory and can be read on the surface.
JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" provides, together with a resistivity meter, a complete software package including correction modules for well conditions, geosteering and interpretation.
Our Company offers a resistivity meter with a pressure measurement while drilling (PWD) sensor for 4.75 ”, 6.75” and 8.00 ”instruments.

The Rotary pulsator supplied by JSC Neftegazavtomatika is one of the most reliable transmitters for the hydraulic channel in the industry. Our pulsator can withstand high concentrations of calculating additives and is capable of operating in wide ranges of mud properties and drilling parameters.
Our company continues to improve the design of the pulsator to increase its reliability and reduce energy consumption. Among the latest improvements is the new version of the brushless electric motor and the controller for it, which allows the pulsator to operate for thousands of hours without failures.
The new motor / controller combination consumes 30% less electricity during pulsation and 3 times less energy in standby mode compared to the pulsators of previous modifications. Also increased the life of shafts and seals, simplified maintenance procedure.
The Rotary pulsator can be used with lithium batteries or with a turbine generator - TNB, also offered by our company. The pulsator can be considered as a worthy alternative to the equipment offered by other manufacturers.
There are adapters for some popular telemetry systems, it is also possible to manufacture adapters and adapters on request. All materials used in the manufacture of the pulsator, have high wear resistance, which provides exceptional reliability and duration of use, demanded in the drilling industry.
The Gamma-probe, or gamma ray logging probe, is a scintillation detector with a photomultiplier, installed in a special protective housing, which protects against shock and vibration during drilling. The new version of the gamma sensor also allows you to monitor operating parameters and consumes less electricity. This maintains backward compatibility with previous versions.
The device is an additional module to the telemetry system - TNB. The sensor is calibrated in accordance with the API standard, and a test gamma-ray source is supplied for testing the instrument in the field or during maintenance in the workshop.
The measured values are converted by the ground-based telemetry system - TNB to API values; an additional adjustment is made for the well diameter, mud density and wall thickness of the non-magnetic drill collar.
Each value obtained is attached to the depth obtained from the depth gauge, which makes it possible to output logs in the form of a real-time display or printed on paper. Also, the obtained data can be exported in LAS-format or transmitted under the industrial protocol WITS.
The Telemetry system - TNB in combination with a gamma probe - TNB can transmit as a combination of the values of the gamma and the positions of the diverter in directional drilling, and only the value of the gamma in the modes of rotary drilling. TeleSystem - TNB allows you to save up to 32 MB of data of gamma-ray logging.
Monitoring of operational parameters:
It is planned to create a “Cumulative model of the state” of the device, allowing you to make a maintenance schedule based on the operating history.
The pressure measurement sensor while drilling from the company Naftogazavtomatika JSC measures the pressure both inside the column and in the bore for all sizes of the BHA. The obtained data can be transmitted in real time using a telemetry system - TNB or recorded in the memory of the device for subsequent reading and analysis. It is possible to transfer both real-time data and signaling exit from a range of pre-set rates.
Well pressure control:
Measurement and monitoring of the hydrostatic and dynamic pressure of the circulating fluid for drilling, both with the control of the pressure of the drilling fluid and with the reduced hydrostatic pressure in the wellbore (drilling for depression).
Maintaining the integrity of the rocks and walls of the well:
Measuring in real time the pressure inside the drill string and the bore helps to determine the optimal pressure in the range between the pore pressure and the fracture gradient.
Management of hydraulic programs:
Determination in real time of the equivalent density of the circulation of drilling mud to effectively clean the well, prevent swabbing and pistoning during the descent of the drill string, as well as to assess the pressure loss.
Supports early release / absorption detection programs:
Regular pressure measurement inside the column, in the bore and calculation of the differential pressure allows you to determine in advance the danger of release and loss of circulation.
The high-temperature turbine generator proposed by JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" has an axial flow design and is designed for use in a wide temperature range for use in measurement and logging systems while drilling (M / LWD).
This development produces a stable power supply at temperatures up to 200 ° C, replacing expensive disposable lithium batteries. The generator is adjusted to the required range of mud flow for typical sizes.
Vibration recording module
The vibration recording module - TNB is an additional software-activated option of the telemetry system TNB, which allows real-time transmission and storing in the memory of axial (bit jump), side and torsional (stick-slip, high-frequency vibration and funnel-like rotation of the bit) vibration and shock.
The module allows you to assess the levels of vibration and shocks that can damage telemetry equipment and other elements and notify them.
Real-time data and memory information may be correlated with drilling parameters and equipment used to optimize drilling and prevent failures and emergencies, and can also be used as evidence in investigating warranty disputes.
The data transmitted in real time and stored in memory together with the readings of ground sensors can be viewed in the Telemetry system - TNB in the Vibration recording program - TNB, printed and exported in industrial formats (WITS and LAS).
The Telemetry System family of JSC "Neftegazavtomatika" includes an incremental ground system for decoding the telemetric signal and logging while drilling - the TNB-Plotter. The modular design of the ground system allows you to adapt it in accordance with the changing requirements of your business.
The main part of the ground telemetry system - TNB is a second generation interface unit (SIU2) that includes everything needed to measure, filter, decode, display, store and receive data for rotary drilling with trajectory control with remote transmission and control. The inclusion of a driller in the computer system and the display allows you to control the trajectory in directional and rotary drilling.
The SIU2 upgrade with depth gauge activation and the addition of a plotter allow you to get a complete system for logging while drilling. An intuitive operating system allows you to block changes to certain settings, while leaving the field engineer the ability to make the settings necessary to perform the work. The system can be supplied in a "protected" version, and in the "light" version.
The TNB-Telemetrist program software is a complete logging package with an easy-to-use graphical interface. This software product allows you to quickly configure and print logging charts conforming to API RP 31A standard, along the barrel, vertically and relative to time.
Custom headers, formats and curve styles can be saved as templates, separate from the well data. This allows you to quickly adapt existing templates for a specific customer. Charts and templates can be created in metric (SI) or English measure systems.
